Illustration of a pipeline. A call on Zoom, Meet or Teams; Fathom lets you choose a bot or botless capture (beta, Mac only); the recording goes to Fathom's cloud, where its help says all data is stored in the United States; out come sample cards for a summary, action items and CRM sync. Below, Lesskeys keeps the whole call on your computer and writes a full transcript.

Not for you?

What Lesskeys does not make for you

Lesskeys has no AI summaries or CRM sync.

  • No action items
  • No highlight clips
  • No shared library

It records what plays on your computer, so it cannot cover a call you are not at. Whisper can get names and rare words wrong, so check anything that matters.

Switching

Switching from Fathom: one call first

Keep Fathom for a week.

Its help describes copying a transcript to the clipboard and downloading a recording as MP4. Save what you need first: Lesskeys does not import Fathom meetings.

Tell the people you record; some places require everyone's consent.

Questions

Questions about Fathom and Lesskeys

Is there a Fathom alternative that works offline?

Yes. Lesskeys transcribes a meeting on your computer with Whisper models, so no audio is uploaded and it works with the internet off once its models are downloaded.

Does Lesskeys put a bot in my meetings, unlike Fathom's default?

No. Lesskeys records your computer's sound and your microphone, so nothing joins the call and nothing is announced to other participants. Fathom's pricing page says you can choose a bot or botless capture, which is in beta on the Mac.

Does Lesskeys generate AI summaries like Fathom?

No. You get a full transcript with speaker labels, made on your computer. If you want a summary, paste the transcript into any tool you choose.
