Questions
Questions about MacWhisper and Lesskeys
Can Lesskeys transcribe a video file on my Mac like MacWhisper does?
Yes. Drop an MP4 or MOV onto Lesskeys and the audio is taken out and turned into text on your Mac. The video stays on your disk, and a player follows the transcript.
Does Lesskeys label speakers without any cloud service?
Yes. Lesskeys labels speakers on your computer and has no cloud engine to switch on. MacWhisper's help page says its speaker recognition also works with local models, so the difference is not local against cloud: Lesskeys has only the local route.
Is there a MacWhisper alternative with no subscription?
Lesskeys has no subscription. MacWhisper's own site also sells a one-time licence, so if that is your only reason to switch, both fit. The table has its plans with the date they were checked.
Do I get dictation and file transcription in the same Lesskeys app?
Yes, both. MacWhisper's help says its dictation is only in the edition sold on its own site, not in the App Store edition.
