Multi-speaker research interview transcript with speaker labels in Lesskeys on macOS
Multi-participant interviews, labeled by speaker, processed on-device.

Can I transcribe research interviews offline on a Mac?

Yes. Lesskeys transcribes interviews and focus-group recordings on-device using Apple Silicon's GPU, so nothing is uploaded and it works without an internet connection. For studies where participant confidentiality and data-handling rules matter, keeping recordings on your own machine keeps the data contained.

Speaker separation for focus groups

Multi-participant recordings are hard to code when you can't tell who said what. Lesskeys applies automatic on-device speaker diarization — labeling each participant, with persistent voiceprints so a recurring participant can be recognized across sessions — so your transcripts are ready to analyze.

Useful for study workflows

A working setup for a study

  1. Collect — import session recordings from your recorder or capture remote interviews locally on your Mac.
  2. Transcribe on-device — every session is transcribed and diarized locally, which keeps participant data inside your own data-handling boundary.
  3. Label participants — assign codes or names per speaker; recurring participants can be recognized across sessions.
  4. Code and cite — use the transcript-synced player to re-listen to any segment, then export TXT into your analysis tool.

FAQ

Can I transcribe research interviews offline on a Mac?

Yes. Lesskeys transcribes qualitative interviews and focus groups entirely on your Mac, offline, so participant audio is never uploaded.

Does it separate multiple participants?

Yes. Automatic on-device speaker diarization labels each participant — useful for focus groups and multi-person interviews.

Is it suitable for participant confidentiality?

Recordings and transcripts stay on your device with no cloud upload, which helps keep participant data contained. Follow your institution's own data-handling and ethics requirements.
