A voice recorder that hands you the words

What it records
Two sources, together or alone. The microphone — voice memos, in-person interviews, a meeting in a room. System audio — whatever your Mac is playing, which is how calls and video meetings get captured without any bot joining; add optional screen or window video when seeing the call matters. Everything is saved as ordinary local files on your Mac.
The transcript is the point
Every recording is transcribed on-device with automatic speaker labels and 99-language auto-detect. That turns the library from a pile of audio into something you can use: search across every transcript for the phrase you remember, click a line to jump the player to that exact moment, export TXT — or SRT/VTT when the source was video.
How it compares to Voice Memos
Apple's built-in Voice Memos is genuinely fine for quick capture, and recent versions add transcripts in a handful of languages. Privacy is structural, not a setting
Nothing records without you starting it, and nothing you record is uploaded — transcription runs on the Mac's own chip, there is no account, and the files live in folders your backups already cover.
